[edit] Manchester United Evra comes off the pitch after a match versus Arsenal Evra signed for Manchester United on 10 January 2006, joining for a transfer fee of around £5.5 million from AS Monaco, putting pen to paper on a three-and-a-half year contract.[3] Evra's arrival signalled Alex Ferguson's intention to shore up a United defence that had suffered since the sidelining of Gabriel Heinze. During his first meeting with the club after signing, he asked captain Gary Neville where the nearest church was.[4] He made his debut for Manchester United four days after signing in a 3–1 defeat to Manchester City in the Premier League. However, on 5 December 2008, he was handed a four-match ban – due to start on 22 December 2008 – and a £15,000 fine after he was found guilty of improper conduct by the Football Association. He started his senior career on a season-long loan deal at Spartak Subotica in 2000. He moved back to Red Star Belgrade after the loan deal ended, playing regularly in the top-flight Yugoslav League with coach Zoran Filipović. The details of the transfer were not revealed although it was reported that Vidić became the most expensive defender in the history of the Russian Premier League.[5] [edit] Manchester United After playing two seasons at Spartak Moscow, Vidić signed for Manchester United for a reported fee of around £7 million on 5 January 2006;[6] two and a half years after Manchester United's reported interest in him.[7] On this occasion Manchester beat out stiff competition for Vidić's signature as his transfer to ACF Fiorentina had already been agreed with the club's sporting director Pantaleo Corvino. He is a one-club man, having spent his entire professional career with the Red Devils. Scholes has been described by Zinedine Zidane as the "greatest midfielder of his generation",[5] and by Sir Bobby Charlton as "the embodiment of all that I think is best about football."[6] Born in Salford, but later moving to Langley, Scholes excelled in both cricket and football in school. Luís Carlos Almeida da Cunha (born 17 November 1986), commonly known as Nani, is a Portuguese footballer who plays as a winger for English side Manchester United and the Portugal national team.
Nani began his career with Sporting CP, joining the youth team in 2003 before making his first-team debut in 2005. During his two-year tenure in Portugal, Nani won only one trophy: the Portuguese Cup in the 2006–07 season. Before the 2007–08 season, Nani's performances attracted the attention of Manchester United, who eventually secured his services in July 2007. He gained first-team status almost immediately and has since won the Premier League twice, the 2007–08 UEFA Champions League, and the League Cup in the 2008–09 Season.
Nani made his Portugal debut in 2006, scoring his first goal in the process, and has since established himself as a key member for them. He was heavily featured during Euro 2008 and throughout the 2010 World Cup qualification process.
